The factional leader of Boko Haram sect, Abu Musab al-Barnawi, who was recently named Boko Haram leader by ISIS, has released an audio statement attacking his rival Abubakar Shekau. In the audio recording, al-Barnawi said Shekau had violated Islamic tenets by killing fellow Muslims, including members of the terrorist Islamist group, living a life of luxury with his wives, neglecting starving women and children, and failing to provide food and weapons for insurgent fighters. Naming of new Boko Haram leader is just propaganda - Defence HQ

The Defence Headquarters has described the naming of a new leader for the Boko Haram group as propaganda by terrorist group, ISIL. Defence spokesman, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar, said this while reacting to yesterday's report by BBC that the Islamic State in Syria and the Levant (ISIL) has named Abu Musab al-Barnawi as the new leader for Boko Haram.

ISIS announces new leader for Boko Haram, says al-Barnawi replaces Shekau

Islamic State (IS) jihadist group, ISIS, has announced a new leader for its West African branch which is Boko Haram. According to BBC, the terrorist group announced this in the latest issue of their magazine. The magazine featured its first interview with Abu Musab al-Barnawi who replaces Abubakar Shekau. Recall that in January 2015, al-Barnawi appeared in a video clip where he described himself as the spokesman for Boko Haram. This was before the Nigeria-based jihadist group pledged allegiance to IS. Shekau has not made a verified appearance in any of the sects propaganda videos since August 2015.

NEMA presents food items for the rehabilitation of 800 repented Boko Haram insurgents

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) presented food and non-food items to the military for Operation Safe Corridor Programme meant to de-radicalize, rehabilitate and re-integrate eight hundred (800) repented and surrendered Boko Haram insurgents to fast track peace process in the North east.

Two suicide bombers were killed by Civilian JTF at Kusari area near CBN Staff Quarters in Maiduguri, Borno state today June 17th. The suicide bombers were heading to a mosque to detonate the bombs strapped on them when they were stopped by some members of the state vigilante group.
