Police in Florida have arrested a 62 year old mother whose 6 year old son beat his 13 day old newborn babysister to death after she left her children unattended in a minivan

The Federal Government has released all detained members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Enugu after the presiding judge sitting in Magistrate Court, Enugu struck out every charge against them and ordered the 36 of them to be acquitted and discharged.  

College students in Texas are now permitted to carry handguns in school. A new state law that went into effect on Monday August 1st, permits students who are at least 21 years old and have a concealed handgun license, to bring guns onto most college campuses. The controversial campus law permits the students to do so at all public colleges and universities.

Justice A.I Allagoa of the Federal High Court in Owerri, has affirmed the election of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State. Former governorship aspirant, Barr. Friday Nwosu also dragged Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to court over alleged forged tax certificates. However, the court ruled today that the plaintiff, (Nwosu) was unable to prove that the tax documents where forged and dismissed the matter.

Oscar Pistorius was on Wednesday sentenced to six years jail term for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp but legal experts now claim the disgraced athlete could be released on house arrest after serving one sixth of his murder sentence.

This morning, South African athlete Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment for the murder of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. Thokozile Masipa, the judge who pronounced the judgement this morning was the same judge who presided over his original trial and gave him a light sentence back in September 2014. Is she the highest judge in South Africa?

Lekan Arigbabuwo (pictured) was yesterday Friday July 1, 2016 sentenced to one year imprisonment in a case of conspiracy and stealing before Justice Lawal Akapo of Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja.

The Delta State House of Assembly in Asaba on Wednesday, reduced the punishment for kidnapping from death penalty to life imprisonment in the state. The state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa in a letter to the House appealed for reconsideration of Section 4, Sub-Section 1 of the Delta State Anti-Kidnapping Law, 2016 which was passed by the House, which made provision for death penalty for anybody convicted of kidnapping. Mr. Okowa in his letter said:

A 13 year old JSS1 student who lives with his parents at Iju Ishaga Area of Lagos was arrested for allegedly defiling his neighbour's 6 year old daughter and was arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, were today arraigned before an Abuja High Court over their alleged complicity in forgery of the Senate Standing Rules. The two lawmakers who took turns and pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge preferred against them by the federal government, were granted bail and met the conditions set before leaving the court premises. Senate President Bukola Saraki and deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, are currently being arraigned at Room 32 at the Federal High Court Jabi, Abuja. Justice Yusuf Halilu who is the presiding judge, has arrived the court. Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu have arrived Court Room 32 at the Federal High Court Jabi, Abuja where they will be arraigned for the alleged forgery of the Senate Standing order during the senate leadership election in June last year. They will be arraigned alongside former Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Abubakar Maikasuwa and his deputy, Benedict Efeturi.

Barring any last minute changes, Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, are to be arraigned before Justice Yusuf Haliru of an Abuja High Court today June 27th, on a two count charge of forgery of the senate standing order during the senate election in June last year.

Pres Buhari has employed the services of 13 Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, and 10 other counsels to appeal the ruling of Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court in Abuja on May 26th this year, dismissing his preliminary objection to a suit filed by an Abuja-based legal practitioner, Nnamdi Nwokocha-Ahaaiwe against him challenging the authenticity of his WAEC result.

The Econonic and Financial Crimes Commission arraigned two suspects, Paul Etim and Okon Edet Okon, on a 2-count charge of illegal dealing in petroleum products, before Justice E.A Obile of the Federal High Court, Calabar, Cross River State on Tuesday, June 14. They were convicted and sentenced to 6 years imprisonment each without an option of fine.
