Following the consistent crash of the Naira against the dollar, Nigeria's economy has lost its place as the largest economy in Africa to South Africa. This is according to a new report by Bloomberg and the IMF.

In the light of prevailing national economic difficulties, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on Nigerians to evolve concepts and ideas that will make them economically self-reliant. Director General of NOA, Garba Abari stated this when he paid a courtesy visit on his Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) counterpart, Malam Yakubu Ibn Mohammed.

Nigeria's record breaking boat rower Chierika Ukogu who put medical school on hold won’t be competing for medals at Rio 2016

Chierika Ukogu's dreams of winning an Olympic medal has ended after the US-based Nigerian came fifth in the quarter-finals of the boat rowing event at the Rio 2016. Despite historically qualifying for the semi finals of the competition, she won't be competing for medals at the event.

Rio 2016: Sports minister Solomon Dalung celebrates with Samson Siasia after Super Eagles victory

Nigeria's football team in the early hours of today defeated Sweden (1-0) and have qualified for the quarterfinals of the Olympic games football event. Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, who is presently in Rio to watch the games, is pictured celebrating with coach Samson Siasia inside their dressing room after the victory. Rio Olympics: Umar Sadiq scores to ensure Nigeria qualify for quarterfinals after beating Sweden 1-0

  It only took a goal from Umar Sadiq in the 40th minute to ensure Nigeria's Olympic football team at Rio 2016 qualified for the quarter-final stage of the competition in a Group B match at the Arena Amazonia on Monday morning.. Samson Siasia started with the same starting eleven that played the match against Japan but Umar Aminu had to start from the bench.

Instagram takes down video of the Nigerian National anthem flop at the 2016 Olympics

Instagram has taken down the video Toolz shared of the national anthem flop at the start of Olympics match between Nigeria and Japan. The wrong National anthem was played for Nigeria and the organizers later apologized for their mistake. Instagram has however taken down the video. Toolz revealed this and wrote, "They don't want me to post a video about the Olympics...and how they got out national anthem wrong! This is gonna be so difficult to monitor."

US issues a travel warning to their citizens in Nigeria, list 20 states to be avoided

The U.S. Department of State has released a statement warning their Citizens in/coming to Nigeria, to consider their own personal security by avoiding some states due to the security situation in northeast Nigeria. The statement warns U.S. citizens of the risks of travelling to Nigeria and recommends that U.S. citizens should especially avoid travelling to Adamawa, Borno & Yobe. Except for essential matters.

Miss Ekiti Lola Abeni Adeoye beat 18 other contestants to emerge winner of the 2016 Miss Nigeria USA. The pageant took place on May 28 at the Symphony Space Theater in Manhattan. Lola, with no hair, beat other stunning ladies with 'good hair'..:-). Congrats to her. See more photos after the cut...
