The Bayelsa born coach made some startling revelations, saying he's been owed salary for five months and that he and his players have been disrespected by the Nigeria Football Federation and Sports Ministry all through out their Olympic journey.

Colombia defeated Nigeria 2-0 in Sao Paulo  on Wednesday  night/ Thursday  morning to reach the quarter–finals of the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament Rio 2016, but the result didn't matter much to Samson Siasia's men who already had booked a place in the quarter-final prior to kick off.

Rio Olympics: Nigerians on Twitter praise Mikel Obi after his superb performance against Sweden

Mikel Obi was in superb form this morning as he controlled proceedings playing as a number 10 and helped Nigeria defeat Sweden 1-0 in the footballing event at Rio 2016. The highlight of his performance was when he made a mazy turn in midfield that left two Swedish players confused and when he also tested the Swedish keeper with a wonderful shot. Nigerians have taken to Twitter to praise him, with many saying they are now seeing the 'old' Mikel Obi . See more tweets after the cut.

World number one male Tennis player Novak Djokovic was left in tears as he was shockingly eliminated in the first round of Rio Olympics by a determined Juan Martin del Potro who beat him 7-6 7-6 . Novak representing Serbia was shocked by Argentina's Del Potro, who had spent 40 minutes stuck in an elevator in the athletes' village earlier on Sunday .

Nigeria's football team in the early hours of today defeated Sweden (1-0) and have qualified for the quarterfinals of the Olympic games football event. Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, who is presently in Rio to watch the games, is pictured celebrating with coach Samson Siasia inside their dressing room after the victory. Rio Olympics: Umar Sadiq scores to ensure Nigeria qualify for quarterfinals after beating Sweden 1-0

  It only took a goal from Umar Sadiq in the 40th minute to ensure Nigeria's Olympic football team at Rio 2016 qualified for the quarter-final stage of the competition in a Group B match at the Arena Amazonia on Monday morning.. Samson Siasia started with the same starting eleven that played the match against Japan but Umar Aminu had to start from the bench.

22-time Olympic medal winning swimmer Michael Phelps won his 19th gold medal (23rd overall) as part of the men's 4x100m freestyle relay team at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He swam the second leg of the relay for Team USA and was cheered on by his girlfriend Nicole Johnson, who sat with their son Boomer, and mom Deborah. More photos after the cut...

Venus and Serena Williams lose Olympic doubles match for the 1st time

Three-time doubles champions and gold medalists, sisters Serena and Venus Williams lost an Olympic match as partners for the first time, by losing in the opening round of the Rio de Janeiro Games to Czech Republic's Lucie Safarova and Barbora Strycova by 6-3, 6-4. The Williams sisters entered Sunday's match with a 15-0 career record in the Olympics, winning the gold medal in women's doubles every time they entered the event: in 2000, 2008 and 2012.

The 34-year-old tennis star who is bidding for her second Olympic gold in the singles category after triumphing at London 2012, arrived Rio with plenty of luggage. She was seen wheeling her way through the airport with her luggage in tow. It didn't take long after touchdown for her to hit the tennis court with her sister and doubles partner, Venus, 36. Instagram takes down video of the Nigerian National anthem flop at the 2016 Olympics

Instagram has taken down the video Toolz shared of the national anthem flop at the start of Olympics match between Nigeria and Japan. The wrong National anthem was played for Nigeria and the organizers later apologized for their mistake. Instagram has however taken down the video. Toolz revealed this and wrote, "They don't want me to post a video about the Olympics...and how they got out national anthem wrong! This is gonna be so difficult to monitor."
