PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF DIRECTOR OF ACTION AND MOBILIZATION (NANS) ZONE D SOUTH-WEST
"The only instrument used by the oppressors to oppress the oppressed is the mind of the oppressed". - Steve Biko.
It is a know fact that all our government at various levels in Nigeria are oppressing Nigerians at large.
Combatant greetings to th entire students, comrades and stakeholders in the nation's movement, we have made it a necessity to express our discontent and dissatisfaction in the activities of all our government at various levels in Nigeria.
In reference to the press text of the Deputy Coordinator, Com. Afolabi Saheed (Seedorf) titled: Hike in the Price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS): NANS Demand for Total Reversal.
One would imagine that if the price of PMS is reduced from #87 to #70, it would be applauded by Nigerians for bringing the 'Change Agenda' to the common masses rather than the fraudulent approach to the ongoing subsidy crises responsible for the economic hardship of Nigerians.
It is on record that the APC controlled federal government mobilized against Jan 1st, 2012 Fuel Subsidy of the then PDP/ Jonathan government tagging it a 'Scam', it is quite disheartening that the Change government resulted in the activation of Jonathan's Scam from #87 to #145 when Nigerians are undergoing systemic, structural, policy and economic failures and excruciating pains.
NANS condemn the obnoxious policy of the Federal Government on Fuel Subsidy as the biggest insult on the masses at a time where the fall in Naira, unstable pump price and fuel scarcity had really landed Nigerians in a confused market pricing on both locally and imported goods.
We have assure the federal government that Nigerian students would mobilize across the nation with #OperationOccupytheNation# if they fail to reverse the pump price to #87 per litre.
Fuel Subsidy removal cannot compete with the present economic planning of the nation.
The removal of Fuel Subsidy would increase the stress of the third parties on the streets, markets, students and so on
We must mobilise against the inhumanity of the federal government.
Conclusively, we shall continue to agitate until our good becomes better, and our better becomes best.
Viva Aluta.
Signed:
Comrade Ola-Lucas, Director of Action and Mobilization, NANS Zone D.
