Bukky Ajayi, an undisputed legend of acting & broadcasting dies at 82

Earlier today, the undisputed elegance and grandeur of veteran thespian Zainab Bukola Ajayi, 82 was lost to the greater beyond as she slipped away from this sinful world through the medium of sleep after recent battles with heart-related issues.

Born into Christianity on April 2, 1934 in Ibadan, she died a faithful of Islam but nevertheless spent the period in-between upholding the virtues of both religions and living peaceably amongst all men.
As a child, she would accompany her father with whom she had a close relationship, to the cinemas and this birthed a love for theatre and movies that was not extinguished in all her eight decades on Earth.

Thanks to a Federal Government scholarship in 1959, she studied at the Stanislavsky Drama Institute in London and worked in Pitman’s College, London for a while, before returning to Nigeria in 1965.
The next year, she began working with the Western Nigerian Television (WNTV), which later morphed into the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) as a presentation assistant, then presenter and later a newsreader.
