My Journey to Inauguration as Students Union President of Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke

Today, I have the honor of being inaugurated as the Students Union President of the prestigious Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa-Oke, alongside my fellow executives and Senators of Parliament. This achievement marks a milestone in my journey of leadership, unionism, and activism, a journey for which I am immensely grateful to God Almighty for the grace and strength bestowed upon me.

Reflecting on the path that brought me here, I am reminded of the many roles I have undertaken and the experiences that have shaped me as a leader.

My Early Leadership Foundations

My journey into leadership began in my early school years, where I took on responsibilities that laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong commitment to service:

1. At Aina Memorial Primary School in Agiliti, Mile 12, Lagos, I served as the Assembly Prefect. This early role taught me the importance of accountability and instilled in me a sense of responsibility towards my peers.

2. Later, at Ayedere Ajibola Junior High School in Ketu, Lagos, I served as the Timekeeper. Ensuring punctuality and order in school activities helped me develop the discipline and organizational skills that are essential to effective leadership.

3. My role as Office Prefect at Ayedere Ajibola Senior High School further strengthened my abilities to coordinate, communicate, and organize effectively.

Leadership at Osun State College of Technology

When I joined OSCOTECH, I knew I wanted to continue my journey of service and take on roles that allowed me to make a positive impact. My time here has been marked by various leadership roles, each of which deepened my dedication to the student community:

1. Serving as Class Governor for three sessions gave me the opportunity to represent and advocate for my classmates. I am grateful for the trust they placed in me to be their voice and support. This role taught me how to balance responsibilities and remain accountable to those I serve.

2. As a Senator in the Students Union Government (SUG), I broadened my understanding of student governance and legislative responsibilities. In this role, I worked hard to bring student concerns to the forefront and to contribute to decisions that would benefit our entire student body.

My Role in Indigenous Student Unions

Beyond my roles within OSCOTECH, I have also been privileged to serve in indigenous student unions, roles that have deepened my commitment to my heritage and community:

1. As the National General Secretary of the Obokun Students Union, I coordinated activities that promoted unity and collaboration among Obokun students, ensuring our collective interests were represented.

2. Serving as the National Treasurer of the Ijesha Students Union taught me the importance of transparency and integrity in managing resources. Handling financial responsibilities for the union was a duty I approached with dedication and honesty, knowing the trust placed in me.

My Commitment to Serve

My election and inauguration as the Students Union President are a testament to the confidence that my peers have placed in my abilities, experience, and dedication. The journey to this position has been built on a solid foundation of service, hard work, and the desire to make a difference. I am deeply humbled and grateful for the trust that has been placed in me.

Today, as I assume this office, I make a solemn promise to serve with all my strength and to lead with integrity, empathy, and resilience. I am prepared to face the challenges that come with this role, and I am committed to making a positive and lasting impact on our student community.

With a prayer for guidance—“May God help me”—I embrace this new chapter. I am ready to work tirelessly for the good of all OSCOTECH students, and I look forward to building a legacy that will inspire future generations.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey. I am honored and determined to make you proud.
