Lagos shuts down 12 houses as police uncovers illegal oil wells

The Lagos State Government on Friday shut 12 houses in Abeokuta and Ibadan Streets in Ilasamaja area of the State over discovery of shallow oil wells built by landlords to illegally scoop diesel from pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). The oil wells were said to have been built for the purpose of illegally scooping diesel and selling same to members of the public, while some of the affected landlords built pumping machine and bore hole to perpetrate the crime on a large scale.

Solomon Dalung responds to the report that Mikel Obi paid $4000 to free squad after hotel officials held them to ransom over bills

John Mikel Obi reportedly paid $4000 to free the Olympic football squad after the team was held to ransom by hotel officials in Sao Paulo over bills incurred by additional NFF officials. (Read here ) The Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, has denied the report through a statement released on the Minister's official Facebook page and signed by Nneka Ikem-Anibeze, his Special Adviser on Media .The statement read;

Shoen in New York, on Saturday July 30th. The post on LIB was to celebrate their love and freedom in the US. However, slight controversy arose when some trolls attacked the newly married couple on their social media accounts.

There was a clash between some officials of Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) and Nigeria Army personnel, in Ojuelegba bus-stop, Lagos state this morning. According to an eye witness who sent in the photos, a KAI officer allegedly slapped and tore a man's cloths, just because he was passing by their parked van. Turns out that the man they harassed was not a civilian but a soldier who was dressed in plain clothes.

NLNG Seafarers protestproposed 50 per cent salary slash

Read the press statement below... Seafarers of the NLNG Ship Management Limited (NSML), a subsidiary of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), have decried the proposed 50 per cent cut in salary. According to the Seafarers, the protest was in reaction to the mail signed by the Crewing Manager, on behalf of NSML management requiring Nigerian Seafarersto sign and comply with aproposed 50 per cent salary cut within seven days or risk losing their jobs.The arbitrarysalary slash expected to take effect from Sept. 1 2016.
