Comrade Ajibade, SUG President of Osun State College of Technology, Calls Out IBEDC for Poor Electricity Supply in Esa Oke
The Management,
Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC),
Esa-Oke Branch,
Osun State.
Dear Sir/Ma,
CONDEMNATION OF THE POOR ELECTRICITY SUPPLY IN ESA OKE AND ITS ADVERSE IMPACT ON STUDENTS' WELFARE
On behalf of the entire student populace of the Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa Oke, I write to express our profound dissatisfaction with the deplorable state of electricity supply in the community. This issue has become one of the most seriously complained ordeals among students and has caused severe setbacks to their academic, social, and emotional well-being.
The irregular and inadequate electricity supply has adversely affected students’ ability to carry out critical academic activities such as research, high-demand assignments that require internet access, and project work. It has also created significant barriers to communication with our families, leaving many students isolated and demoralized.
As the spokesperson for the students, I must emphasize that this issue directly impacts their welfare, which remains my utmost priority. I will stop at nothing to ensure that their concerns are addressed, and this electricity crisis is resolved promptly.
We demand that IBEDC take immediate and decisive steps to resolve this electricity issue. Specifically, we request the following:
1. An immediate improvement in power supply to ensure the basic electricity needs of the students and the community are met.
2. Revised electricity rationing schedules that prioritize the institution’s operational hours from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, as these periods are integral to academic and administrative activities.
It is imperative that IBEDC treats this issue with the urgency and seriousness it deserves. Failure to address this matter will leave us with no option but to demonstrate our displeasure through peaceful protests to demand our rights to a conducive learning environment.
We trust in your understanding and willingness to prioritize the welfare of the students and the community by finding a lasting solution to this issue.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Yours faithfully,
Comrade Ajibade Kehinde Daniel
President, OSCOTECH Students' Union
