Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesha Holds Maiden Inter-Faculty Debate


 

In a bid to encourage reading habits and intellectual growth among students, the Student Union Government (SUG) of Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesha, under the leadership of Hon. Oriowo Olawale, held the first-ever Inter-Faculty Debate. This event, which marked a significant milestone in the history of the institution, brought together students from various departments to showcase their oratory and critical thinking skills.


The competition aimed to foster academic excellence, improve public speaking abilities, and ignite a passion for reading among the students. It also provided a platform for them to engage in healthy intellectual discourse, preparing them for future leadership roles in society.


Among the distinguished guests at the event were Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi Irekandu, a Member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Obokun State Constituency, 

The school Provost,  Dr L O Raheem and Comrade Sodiq Lawal, popularly known as Choco Millo, a notable journalist from Within Nigeria Times. Their presence added to the importance and prestige of the program, motivating the participants and audience alike.


The debate featured students from various faculties, and after an intense series of rounds, the winners were announced:


Oladejo Mutiyat Oluwadamilola from the Pharmacy Department emerged as the 1st place winner, showcasing exceptional arguments and eloquence.


Babalola Faith from the Dental Surgery Department claimed the 2nd position, impressing the judges with her depth of knowledge and presentation.


Inaolaji Aduragbemi from the Medical Laboratory Science Department secured the 3rd position, standing out for his insightful contributions.


The event was lauded as a great success, with participants and attendees commending the organizers for such an inspiring and educative initiative. Hon. Oriowo Olawale, in his closing remarks, emphasized the importance of intellectual competitions like this in shaping the future of students, urging them to maintain a habit of consistent reading and self-improvement.


The success of this first edition of the Inter-Faculty Debate promises to set a foundation for future academic events that will continue to promote excellence within the institution.
